DownloadJust one easily guessed password can stop your business in its tracks. When it comes to keeping your Xero data secure, put an extra deadbolt on the door with two-step authentication (2SA), and stay safe online. Here are three steps to get you started and why it will become mandatory when using Xero.
Seeing that cyber-crime has gained more prominence in recent years, practicing sensible cyber safety has become a necessary part of modern life.
With this rise in cyber-crime, the Australian Taxation Office has updated its online security requirements for customers of software providers, like Xero that connect with the ATO. As a result, it will be compulsory for anyone with access to an Australian organisation on Xero to have 2SA enabled on their login by the end of the 2018 year. The same is true for customers using other cloud-based platforms.
HOW TO SETUP 2SA
IS THIS LEVEL OF SECURITY NECESSARY? SHOULDN’T I BE ABLE TO CHOOSE?
Our lives are becoming more digital, but many people still use and share weak passwords that can be easily guessed or fail to keep software and anti-malware up to date. For this reason, two-step authentication is being used more often in everyday situations where security and privacy are important, including access to online banking and emails.
What may appear to be temporarily inconvenient has been proven to significantly reduce the risk and inconvenience of a compromised account.
Visit Xero’s website for more information on Two Step Authentication for Xero.
